The Deaf ministries model, Deaf missions, often includes doing outreach mission efforts to marginalized individuals or groups in the community (e.g., bringing dinner to group homes or visits to a nursing home). Also, this may be a one time or an irregularly scheduled type of outreach mission or support, which
includes planning and/or joining mission trips, either domestically or abroad (e.g., Jamaica).
Some groups are able to do mission work in the United States. In fact, having Deaf individuals join a hearing group is an alternative to doing Deaf mission work. Ensuring on-going communication by having an interpreter with the group is recommended.
